I currently use an IP service provider for my home phone service, how can I use the VoiceGard service during recovery effort?

The VoiceGard IP Phone will take advantage of the broadband Internet connection from your Internet Service Provider. Simply plug the VoiceGard IP Phone into an available Ethernet switch port on your broadband Internet solution. It will establish connection to the VoiceGard gateway and you will be ready to receive your business calls.

Will I have access to the Web during a recovery effort when using the VoiceGard Phone?

Yes, the VoiceGard phone comes with an additional Ethernet switch port to support a PC during utilization. It is best to use a 3rd party router/switch from your broadband connection and plug the VoiceGard IP Phone into an available Ethernet switch port on that device.

How will I receive my calls?

When a VoiceGard customer declares a disaster, the emergency plan is invoked and the registered customer phone numbers are directed onto the VoiceGard network. Once on the VoiceGard network the calls are sent to the specific end devices as determined by the customer. You can receive your call to via a VoiceGard IP Phone, your cell phone or any analog/digital phone, such as a home phone.

How secure is the VoiceGard Service?

When using the VoiceGard IP Phone, Secure RTP is used to encrypt the voice traffic. If calls are being directed to other devices such as a cell phone or home phone, the voice traffic is only as secure as those networks. The VoiceGard interactive web portal uses SSL (secure socket Layer) and authentication methods to secure the web traffic, and ensure your company information and business continuity plan maintains its integrity.

How do the end-users get notified that a declaration has been declared?

VoiceGard offers an email notification solution that will send an email to all email addresses that an end user adds to their profile in the VoiceGard web portal. This provides global access for their employees to access important documents in the event of a disaster declaration. VoiceGard also offers its customers secure disk storage in the web portal for each customer to store documents pertaining to their emergency procedures.

How is the migration back to our network handled?

Once the customer is ready to restore business calls to their original locations, VoiceGard will ensure that the call traffic is directed back to the corporate voice network.

Can VoiceGard support call center applications?

Yes, VoiceGard staffs experienced call center engineers that can develop a recovery plan for your call center application. VoiceGard understands the critical nature of call center traffic, and will work with your staff to provide a comprehensive continuity solution.

What constitutes a disaster and how is a disaster declared?

Disasters can affect a company in many forms: Severe Weather; Loss of Power; Loss of Equipment Service; Disrupted Cable Traffic; Fire / Flood. To declare a disaster with VoiceGard and invoke the corporate voice recovery plan, a call is placed to the VoiceGard Disaster Hotline. The VoiceGard Recovery Center will then validate the call and invoke the voice recovery services.

Will the VoiceGard IP Phone work if I use a corporate VPN solution for Data?

Yes, The corporate VPN traffic will need to use split tunneling so the VoiceGard voice traffic will utilize the public Internet while Corporate traffic will use a separate encrypted tunnels through the Internet. Documentation is available online for instructions on setting up the VoiceGard IP Phone.

What if I do not have Broadband or DSL Service, can I still receive my calls using the VoiceGard Service ?

Absolutely, VoiceGard offers a transport service that will deliver your business calls to any Cellular phone or standard (Analog/Digital) phone set.
